So, I'm still seeing a 'pending' status for mine. I signed up on both beehaw and lemmy.world, and I was really hoping to be able to help grow both, but I can't create a community on beehaw, so I'm just sitting here waiting to be approved(?) on lemmy.world to be able to do that. I think. I'm not sure I've got much of this as figured out as everyone else.

I would have absolutely said that around my core group of friends. I'm here for real comments too! Laughing releases endorphins or something, right?

Shew! That's a tiny fella! Good on you for keeping that one alive for a year!

We have around 300 houseplants, but nothing quite this tiny and delicate, other than a handful of her super rare and annoyingly finicky Hoyas!

So cool! I always enjoy seeing birds from other parts of the world than I frequent.

If I may add, politely, that you should be careful not to lean too heavily on the sound ID of merlin for accuracy. It's good, but not great by any means.

We need a Birding community here!!

Man, do I miss a good forum.

I still have an account on a really great college football board that has taught me a TON about the most random things. All while being generally awesome people. Hoping at least some of this new (to many of us n00bs) world stays this way.

Hey, thanks so much! I wish I had the original on this phone, but I've not taken the time to find that old SD card, so this will have to suffice for now!

I'd love to post all kinds more, but I have no clue what I'm reeeeeally doing, and where I should or shouldn't be doing it!

I would kill to just have some help/pointers figuring out how to navigate this... Fediverse?

I've made a couple posts, on one, maybe two, um, Instances? In the communities there?

I don't know. All this change is coming at like, the WORST time in my personal/professional life and learning a whole new world is just... Daunting. (waahhhhhh 😭)

Hey, kudos for even attempting a tri-tip! Even a good one is pretty great!

And yep, I write down notes on every cook I can remember to do it for, and my Inkbird App/thermometer does a lot of that for me now. Thing is a godsend.

I've wrapped before, using the "Texas Crutch" at the ~165° stall, but no wrap this time, I just spritzed with apple cider vinegar every 30mins after the bark formed well enough, and waited her out 'naked' until 2am haha.

Smoked a 10lb Boston butt this past weekend to help feed some friends on a small "get away" cabin trip. Turned out pretty okay. Lessons learned, every time!

Fiancée tried a new baked bean recipe. I threw those on for a few hours too...

Finally ready to wrap and rest. 17hrs later!

Pulled and ready to disappear. And boy, did it.

If anyone has pointers on how to post in a sleeker or more proper manner, I'd love to learn. I'm just trying to post some content and not just waste my account.

OH, and if I could ever figure out how to make a community(?) I'd definitely post this in a Smoker one or something like that. Okay, enjoy the crappy pics of some pretty tasty grub!

Also, yes, I used this for my avatar image. It's really just a personal favorite!

I love testing the limits of my cell phone, and my skills with it.

This is a close up of a mushroom of no certain type. Taken with a Galaxy S21, I believe (little older photo) 1920x4224(maybe?)

I'd like to add here, since you appreciate the variety of growing mediums, check out growing your houseplants in LECA (kiln-fired clay balls).

An alternative to soil substrates, and I won't claim to be an expert on it at all. We do have around 300 tropical houseplants, though. And I'd say a good 50% are in LECA only and thriving!

Best of luck with whichever route you try!
