Yeah ok. My server only has me as a user (minus a few test users). And all local communities are fairly small, so doesn't really help me.

So last paragraph really applies.

Might make a feature suggestion on the Lemmy repo for this. Would be super interesting data to analyze.

Is there a way to get a list of users subscribed to a given Lemmy community? Trying to do some Lemmy wide data analysis using that information.

Or alternatively, is there a way to get a list of communities a given user is subscribed to?

How do Echo for Lemmy servers work? (eventfrontier.com)
 

Overview

Echo for Lemmy needs to connect to a Lemmy server to function. These servers are Lemmy servers that are responsible for hosting your account, content, and more. Think of your server similar to your email provider (ex. Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, etc.).

Some servers are private meaning that you must get manual approval from the server admins in order to join. Other servers are fully public and you can join without any approval.

What to look for when choosing a server?

When choosing a server, you should consider the following:

  • Reliability: You want to choose a server that is reliable and has a good uptime. This will ensure that you can access your account and content whenever you need to. Server admins are under no obligation to keep their servers online, so it's important to choose a server that is reliable.
  • Moderation: Each server has its own rules and guidelines when it comes to content moderation. Some servers are more strict, while others are more lenient. Make sure to read the server's rules before joining to ensure that you are comfortable with them, and that they align with what you are looking for.
  • Privacy Policy: Each server has its own privacy policy that outlines how your data is collected, stored, and used. Make sure to read the privacy policy before joining to ensure that you are comfortable with how your data will be handled.
  • Language: While not required, it is recommended to choose a server primarily in your preferred language. This will make it easier to communicate with server admins in the event that you need to contact them.

Due to the decentralized nature of Lemmy, you will be able to interact with users and communities from other servers. Similar to how you can send an email from Gmail to Yahoo, you can interact with users from different servers on Lemmy.

How do I join a server?

In Echo, you can join a server by entering the server's URL into the search bar, or scrolling through the list to find the server you are looking for. If the server is public, you will see a "Sign Up" button that you can click to create an account on that server after tapping on the server. If the server is private, you will not see a "Sign Up" button, and you will need to contact the server admins to request an invite.

If you already have an account on a Lemmy server, you can find the server's URL in the list of servers or search for it in the search bar. Once you find the server, enter your login credentials to access your account.

How to create a server?

Agreed. Not gonna buy this right now since none of my clients support WiFi 7 yet. But Ubiquiti is pushing this out faster than WiFi 6.

Thanks. It did go down after about 40 minutes or so. It seems like my instance isn't federating properly now tho. Had to manually call /api/v3/resolve_object with the link to your comment to even be able to reply to it.

Another example is here you can see that the number of upvotes doesn't match this.

Any ideas?

After upgrading Lemmy from 0.18.5 to 0.19.1, the lemmy_server process is taking up 200-350+% of my CPU. Although I haven't seen it max out my CPU yet, it's getting dangerously close at times.

Any thing I can do to fix this?

I'd be fine with downgrading temporarily if this will require a Lemmy fix, but I'm not seeing any documentation on how to do that. I'm assuming DB migrations were run between those two versions (which might make that complicated).

For Mastodon there is something called Tootpick which allows you to enter your server's domain and share any content by redirecting the user. For example: https://tootpick.org/#text=https://eventfrontier.com/post/37808. So I'm not quite sure the federated nature argument makes sense. Sure it's more complicated that a centralized system, but possible regardless.

Does Lemmy have anyway to pre-fill the Create Post details from the URL? For example Reddit allows for: https://www.reddit.com/submit?url=https%3A%2F%2Fstackoverflow.com%2Fquestions%2F24823114%2Fpost-to-reddit-via-url&title=Post%20to%20Reddit%20via%20URL.

I'm aware that this gets slightly tricky across instances (due to different domains), however I was hoping to build a system where the user enters their Lemmy domain, and it takes them to a page so they can create a post about a given URL.

Any ideas?

My guess is this is the service that has the backlink feature in the top left near the time. So when you open an app, you can easily go back to the previous app.

But, it seems like a bug in iOS that this shows up in your screen time.
