A black bear was found in Magic Kingdom near Tom Sawyer's Island. Caused the delayed opening of the right side of the park today.

Updated guidelines on 2023-08-02 to re-emphasis our decision to allow zero NSFW content.

Well.... here's hoping it doesn't affect tourists as much, or any of the trips we're taking over the next 6 months...

Absolutely fair assessment. I considered that as well, but then felt assured by the fact that there are other Disney-adjacent sites, companies, communities, and otherwise out there, like Disney Food Blog.

I'm a huge fan of Disney and working on other disney-related side projects. I decided to host a disney-only Lemmy instance, and I'd like to encourage other communities across the Fediverse to transfer over to it.

We can keep stay limited to like-minded individuals, while still being connected to the larger Fediverse. And by having our own instance, we're able to relieve pressure from the larger generic Lemmy instances such as lemmy.world.

I hope you'll join me.

I can't wait! What's everyone most interested in? What caught my eye the most was

Pain and Panic Loaded Tots: Tots topped with sweet and spicy onion relish, sriracha mustard, and crumbled bratwurst

I redirect traffic to my subdomain for now.

I have a few raspberry pis, running Home Assistant, Unifi controller, PiHole... Otherwise i have DigitalOcean droplets, one hosts my Lemmy instance, and another hosts a couple of side project websites (my wife's freelance business, and some other stuff)

How does everyone feel about this? I don't have any experience with Mears or Sunshine Flyer, as I'm a local, but ... this hasn't sounded like good news. What used to be a free service is now paid and now fully third-party corporate? ... that's disappointing.

I created dis.ney.ink to try to be the Lemmy version of the Disney subreddits (such as r/dvcmember and r/waltdisneyworld) ... so far there's 3 users and ~9 subscribers

Due to waits and having two young kids, I still haven’t managed to go on FoP or either Star Wars ride.

My wife finally got on FoP during Moonlight Magic, so I’m sure that one will finally get knocked off my list next trip in September!

I feel that we got too proactive. We jumped on a Vero contract so fast right at a time where we had other financial hurdles that popped up, not to mention a year into our Riviera contract. We are better for it in the long run, but it did make things more tense than I’d like for a bit.

Also, as much as I love Riviera, and I’m glad we have points here… I do question if it’s where I PREFER to stay at WDW

I hadn’t even considered the trust approach yet. Why move it to one?

Guessing you're local to California? What makes VGC stand out for you?

We have ownership in Riviera and Vero Beach, and go to WDW 5+ times a year.
