Keep in mind the Republicans are evolving beyond Trump, and this New Right is a real threat.

Case in point, that story earlier this week about Republican thinks tanks funding anti-education, anti-trans, anti-race mixing efforts, which stokes their culture war in ways that have and will continue to provoke real people to act in violent and harmful ways.

Was the cup holding the canned air a failed print you just used as a shallow cup?

I always thought it would be great if there was a rom you could flash that just opens every up on an old phone so you could use them as project computers.

How many of us have a drawer full of old phones that we keep with the intention to one day use for something?

I'll try to keep this short. I eat out too much.

On the east side: kinda tropical, de nada and Sawyer are good laid back food spots. Justines is a great French spot with a setting you can't beat. Bufalina has excellent pizza and wine... Their pasta is delicious but portions don't justify the cost. Cenote is my go to breakfast spot. If you like divey spots, the Grackle, Violet Crown and the liberty are all great. I think East Side King still has a truck at Liberty too. Grackle just got Asador tacos... That mushroom taco is absurd.

South Congress area: June's is a nice little wine bar. Joanne's and the Austin motel have good food and a fun pool.

Near the lake (not sure what to call these areas): carpenters hall has a good menu and fun pool parties. Pecan Square is a great date night/celebration spot... don't sleep on the crab salad. Fresas is casual Mexican that's elevated without ruining the simple beauty of Mexican cuisine.

I can keep going, but that's probably more than enough. Last suggestion I'll give, if you like live music if any kind, go to Sahara Lounge on a Saturday night. The house band is unbeatable.

Now that I take pics I see the latch side is leaning, which makes sense, since the whole fence is probably settling and pulling it.

Now that I posted these I realize that latch side post is leaning. There's a whole fence on that side, so I wonder if it's getting pulled by the others settling.

Yes, wooden posts set in cement. Not sure how deep, because it was new construction, so I didn't do it. It seems weird that it's still settling, but we have definitely been having insane weather swings since it was built, that we don't normally get.

Austin IS prone to foundation issues because something about our soul isn't great... I'm in an area that isn't too bad, but definitely has some issues.

It does sound like we're going to have to reset those posts deeper.

Theyre all wooden posts, set in cement. I don't know how deep though... We hired someone to do it. They are definitely moving vertically, but I don't think there's any wobble from side to side... The latch is locking, and it's about two inches tall, but it is always in line in the y axis, it just goes off up and down. Not sure if it's both sides moving, but I know the gate is now also hitting the cement holding the opposite post.

Pics would help for sure, I'll get some tomorrow.

I'm in Austin Texas. We installed a fence three years ago and the posts between the gate door have shifted about four inches. This makes closing the door a pain in the ass, as the latch quickly becomes misaligned. A few times a year I move the latch bracket down to align it with the other part of the latch. My fence post is full of holes, and along with the constant slamming necessary when it gets out of line, it has started splitting.

How do I end this cycle? How do I keep it from moving so much?

Nothing to add, but this is a wildly distopian thread.

But I need sunscreen or my stupid Irish skin will turn into a big lump of cancer anyway.

I'm in Austin Texas. We got this guy around mid spring and it was bright pink. We've tried full direct light, bright indirect, half and half, putting it indoor and outdoor. It's pretty much all green now. How do we get that pink back?

Max MSP? (waveform.social)

Let's kick off some discussion in here!

I've been tryinging to learn MAX for the last couple months. Building simple synth is cool, but I've stalled out. It looks like my local community college offers a class, so I'm hoping to get some more intentional learning in beyond YouTube videos.

What do you do with Max?

One thing I missed during the reddit era was user avatars. I always found it much easier to recognize posters this way. The lack of avatars next to a post made that whole era feel faceless. I'm glad avatars are included in profiles, and I think they should be brought back into the main UI.

I currently use Connect on Android, which puts a small (10x10px approx) avatar next to names. It would be cool to have an option to enlarge this, but it seems like a step forward.

Most of us are Reddit refugees, and probably clicking more random links than we ever did before on websites we've never seen before. This whole experience feels like the old internet, but also throws up insane red flags with a modern internet perspective. What are the cybersecurity weaknesses we should all be looking for, and what are the best practices?

Here's my reason for posting this. As I search for new communities across instances to follow, I sometimes end up clicking a link and I'm no longer logged in. In the corner, that could be a Sign In link or it could be phishing. It's likely due to me not understanding how to properly navigate this system, but there's nothing stopping someone from setting up a sight like this as far as I know.

Thoughts?
