China got cut out of the list by a couple of spots, it's number 10 at 44.2%. The US is unsurprisingly low at 10.3% but France somehow managed to be lower at 8.9%.

It is just a defeatist argument, basically the same as saying, "Well we all die anyway, so why worry about our health?". Sure, corruption is possible as with we saw happen with the Warsaw pact, but a socialist state being corrupt just simply means that is operating closer along the lines capitalism. By asking for capitalism, you are just giving up and settling for the worst.

Yes, and let's not pretend that western governments have never killed/silenced people for political reasons either. My grandmother could testify that there was a lot of sussy stuff was happening in US under the cover of WW2 and she personally knew people that were being underhandedly executed for spy accusations and whatnot.
