It's too bad r/19684 didn't leave reddit and come here. At least you're on an instance where people are (hopefully) supportive, but I know that doesn't really fix the problem
I've looked into getting involved locally. Unfortunately, the game is stacked against anyone with an unconventional work schedule, who works long shifts, who is non-white, queer, or disabled, who is a non-English speaker...
It's set up so the majority of people who wield the power and influence are fairly affluent, privileged groups. This is by design.
Oh I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. My instance actually disables downvotes, so I can't see that, but there are a lot of reddit transplants here (I'm one of them), and reddit's takes on things like feminism and women are overall not ... good.
It never went away in the first place
Yes, last I checked, one of their prime hate forums r/KotakuInAction was still active, and still filled with the most pathetic little insects seething about the fact that women and minorities exist in media. Gamergate has never really ended. Most people just stopped paying attention to these fools.
Unfortunately, that's easy for me to say, since I'm not on the receiving end of their doxxing and death threats.
I haven't had the best life, but I just can't fathom being such a total loser that I'd ever get that worked up over something like video games.
I'm not sure where you live, but I've definitely encountered them in my extremely conservative state. Even here, they're a small group though.
Even being a small group, I feel like it's still a problem because hate groups like the Republican Party can parade them around when convenient (until they are no longer useful -- then see comic in post).
The pope is not going to fuck you, no matter how much you defend him online.
Unless of course you're a little boy. Then he probably would.
No the churches can all burn though with all the queerphobes and church leaders inside, ridding the world of a violent hate group forever <3
