In this specific case, society could have built a more fair transportation system, such as safe public transit, effectively providing an alternative to uber and a way to avoid agreeing to the terms.

Yea I'm not too keen on giving authorization to hit pedestrians. If I feel threatened in my car, I am not allowed to run over the person so why should a driverless car gain that right? And if the panic button is going to call the police, how is that any different from the passenger using their phone to contact police? Seems like extra steps of middlemen and confusion when the passenger could just call once they feel the need.
I could defintely see a case for some extra safety features that help keep the doors locked and shut, maybe thicker windows too if needed to prevent robberies/assaults.
We took so much pride in stopping the nazis yet we weren't any better back home.
Protected by plastic bollards sounds like a false term/advertising. The folding plastic bollards wouldn't even stop a wheelbarrow, let alone a car. The bollards are about as effective at protecting as paint is. These bollards do however make the lane more visible. A better term might be something like "a bike lane designated by plastic bollards."
I think about this all the time. I've watched a few high speed chase videos and it is absurd that someone can make just about any car go double highway speeds. These people often even drive in oncoming traffic, bike lanes, and sidewalks. It does seem a little ridiculous to give everyone that kind of potential destructive power.
Or slow down to drive closer to the bollards more safely. But to be honest, our wide lanes have corrupted drivers, many don't feel comfortable or competent at all navigating their cars in tight spaces. I still know people who avoid revsering at all costs because they don't really know how to. Some of the driving i see in tighter areas like parking lots makes me question how the hell the driver even got a lisence.
Most people ive met who are quite resistant to change refuse to even ride a bike, sometimes sayings things like "it isn't safe" but won't really acknowledge that it being unsafe is the exact points we are trying to make and fix.
If at any point you need 5 additonal lanes, you don't need lanes, you need different infrastructure
I wish this was my cat. I swear if I am home she is no more than 3 feet away from me. Small dog energy in a cat's body.
It isnt fake, but a lot of the plastic in the blue box never gets recycled. And many plastics are mixed which makes them difficult to recycle. Many can also only be recycled once or twice and still be usefull.
Have you seen those warriors from Hammerfell? They've got curved swords.
I regularly see people use the shoulder or part of another lane to avoid potholes in their car.
