Argh! Boyo has locked himself out again. Keys, phone, wallet, lunch, it’s always something. Absolutely certain it’s diagnosable!

Fantastic Man - William Onyeabor

Cheering myself up with some afro-funk from 1979 Nigeria; the elusive William Onyeabor and his funkedelic bop.

My new goal is to not spend enough time on Twitter to hit the ridiculous 600 tweet limit. Reddit and Twitter really have done me a solid and forced me to reduce my social media engagement.

When I was growing up my parents always said "there's no such thing as a stupid question" or "you don't learn if you don't ask questions". So now I feel bad when I see questions being posted on reddit and I think "that's a stupid question. Im not even going to reply to that". Like I get that some people were given the unfortunate parents stick and weren't taught stuff but we have internet now guys. We can research. We can ask questions before we ask strangers.

Oooooh I hear you on this. Like hello there’s google. Try searching yourself and if you’re still confused, maybe ask in a DT instead of a whole melbourne post 😒

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The stupidity tends not to be so much the actual question as it is the inability to take appropriate actions to find the answer. If you want to know something taking some steps to do at least basic research yourself is appropriate, then if you need to know more you are in a position to ask reasonable questions. A lot of people prefer to just ask someone else and expect them to put all the effort in, and there is rarely any point in actually answering them because if the answer is not simple and easy they just lose interest anyway.

Sometimes the stupidity is people not recognising questions there is no known answer to. I saw a lot of them at the start of Covid, people were asking things like exact details of how long the virus could live on surfaces or how far it could travel in air. Which is pretty stupid when you are talking about a virus that had only just been discovered. I suspect a lot of those type of people are the ones who went down conspiricy and anti-vax rabbitholes, just because those were the types of people who appeared to offer answers.

See those kinds of questions are ok in my book. People are curious. The questions that leave me floored are I/my girlfriend/my mother/my next door neighbour/ was involved in a car accident and it was their/my fault. I'm insured let me stop you there. How about you call your insurance agency and ask them any questions you like. THAT'S WHAT THEY'RE THERE FOR. THAT'S WHY YOU PAY THEM. Sorry I didn't mean to yell but it's that fucking obvious.

Whoooo. Almost 12 hours straight of working. But then I remembered I had no hours for last Thursday because it was a non starter after an intense psych session. Guess I'll have to do a long day tomorrow as well so I can make up enough hours to cover this Wednesday in addition...

Ok I can do this. Everything i need to do has been written down. Shower, episode, sleep. Won't be heading to the office tomorrow, looking at that shitty weather. I've seen enough insane driving over the last 2 weeks.

Figured out the Mlem app, thanks to whoever suggested it! Still getting to understand the fediverse but happy to be here!

I've got something a little weird going on with my feelings.

Things with bar guy are going relatively well. However, suddenly I feel nervous around him? I don't know what's happening.

Back to work after a week off (which became overshadowed by my ear infection). I’d checked my email on Friday and thought I’d dodged the anticipated “welcome back!” Email with a list of extra shit to do in addition to my existing workload. Nope…it’s there, just been sent at 7pm. Ugh.

Have to take my dog to get her stitches out today, I hope she doesn’t get too agitated. She normally doesn’t mind the vet, even when they do unspeakable things to her rear end, but after having surgery she is not too keen on going back. When we went to get her bandage removed she vomited. Hopefully today is the last time for a while🤞

Yikes. Went to the shop and forgot about the whole hyperosmia things after a headcold which hit today. Walked past someone on the street and that perfume was way intense for at least 50m after walking past them.

On the plus side you do get nice nature / tree / plant smells. Would be nice to have that sort of upper respiratory stuff in spring. Would smell delicious.
