Twitter's new strategy is like an exclusive club now - "No ID, no entry". Maybe they're trying to keep all the good content to themselves! 😂

I'll just continue happily frolicking in the world of Mastodon. It's like Twitter without the existential dread, constant login alerts, and the frantic search for witty character-limited comebacks. The day I have to sign in to read a tweet is the day I’ll sign up for carrier pigeon lessons.

Isn’t it what pinterest always did?

[–] helloharu 7 points 1 year ago

Not quite. Pinterest would still show the image you arrived for, but at a small scale with other fluff around it.

Yes, but then what's the point of Pinterest?

Cool now I’ll really have no reason to interact with Twitter

I imagine the meetings to come up to the conclusion that it was needed, that Twitter will benefit from this. Who are the genius behind this ?

Jokes on them, I deleted my Twitter account.

It's the same logic as Reddit's API pricing: LLMs have made public conversational data MUCH more valuable and they want to monetise this data to AI companies.

We're unfortunately going to see the open internet become much more closed int he near future.
