Liverpool are ready to push ahead with a deal for RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.

Newcastle United had previously expressed interest in the 22-year-old but have now left the way clear for Liverpool.

After the deal initially looked difficult to do following a meeting earlier this week, the dynamic has shifted in the past 24 hours and Liverpool appear to have been given confidence that it is possible.

Liverpool and Leipzig are already in dialogue with Fabio Carvalho’s season-long loan move to the Bundesliga club expected to be completed today (Friday) and it was inevitable that the Szoboszlai deal has come up.

Szoboszlai has a €70million (£60.1m, $75.9m) release clause in his contract — with conflicting reports about its expiry — but regardless the move will involve a significant financial outlay.
