I started both these from leftovers from other aquascaping projects just to see what would happen. Both have had major die off both in clean up crew and plants but are somehow still trudging along.

The small one has some algae, hair moss, and (surprisingly) an anubias petit nana hanging onto life.

My large one has had almost complete die off's and only a single plant has survived that I have not quite been able to identify. Looks like some sort of microsword. I glued some cheap USB powered LED's into the lid before sealing off the whole thing with some silicone. I don't run them very often, pretty much just on the weekends, but I'm still surprised they have lasted as long as they have.

To have anything surviving 5 years in is very impressive. I remember reading about biosphere experiments and they could never get it right.

Really gives you an appreciation for how delicate the balance of life is on our planet, and mild horror that so many seem to have no respect for it.
