My local courses have pretty thick underbrush as well as several creeks... Im just getting started in the hobby, and wondered what retrieval tools yo7 guys would recommend.

Whatever you do, don't get one of those ones on the end of a rope. Spend the extra cash and get one on a telescoping pole.

I've got one with a cage or two pronged claw that works great. There is another type that has a sticky ball at the end I've heard good things about called the Max stick retriever on infinitediscs.

Yeah, I figure they are all basically the same... at least the telescoping variety. The ones with the rope that you have to cast out to get your disc is one I have been staying away from... that seems like it would be more frustrating than just leaving the disc. lol

Funny enough I actually switched from the telescoping poles to a cage with a rope. The poles kept falling out of my bag on the course and I lost like two in a week, so i decided to safely store the rope for water shots and just use rocks to hit anything out of a tree.

I've been really happy with this one from Rogue Iron. Still like new after almost a year and multiple attachments has been nice. Great customer service over there too.

I just posted a video from Trash Panda where they look at a few inventions including the max distance retriever. It looks pretty neat video
