I just finished Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. It's an awesome near future sci fi about an astronaut with amnesia trying to save Earth from impending doom.

I love how technical Weir gets. He really makes me excited about math and science because he shows the practical application of it all. And I especially love the element of discovery that is prominent throughout, but especially in the beginning of the book. It just keeps getting better and better as the main character continues making discoveries about himself and his environment.

The narrator, Ray Porter, did a fine job. He isn't my favorite narrator, but he certainly didn't get in the way, which is enough for me.

Finally, I purchased and listened to the book on Audible.

Finishing up The Martian by Andy Weir so I can move on to Project Hail Mary. I love the geeky style of his writing as my interests also lie on the technical side. This is actually my first audiobook so I can't really say how good the narration is, but it is keeping me engaged.

I don't have anything in progress, however the last book I listened to was Citizen of the Galaxy by Robert Heinlein. It wasn't the first time listening to it and won't be the last. Heinlein has this way of describing the world that I haven't found since.

It's a scifi novel about slavery, society, community, family, status and, like most of Heinlein's work, norms and attitudes. More specifically, it's about a boy who is sold as a slave, is freed, and by the end of the book, has bound himself (by choice, this time) once more.

Good Narrator. Grover Gardner has a good voice that suits this story. Can't say I've heard his voice before.

Like most audio-books I've bought the last 10 years, it came from audible.

1. Was listening to Lord of chaos from wheel of time (got burnt out and took a break), then went to gautlgrym by RA Salvatore, now on Eldest by Christopher Paolini.

2. Have a bunch of credits on Audible, but need to remember to cancel my subscription.

If you like fantasy and want to listen to something fun, check out the Bobiverse series, or Dresden files (narrated by James Marsters, spike from Buffy, he's the most animated narrator I've listened to).

Awesome, funny, thought-provoking, frightening distopia

Klopp: Bring the noise by Raphael Honigstein

Liverpool follower since a long long time, makes this book an obvious choice. An hour or two in, liking the book so far. Goes into how Klopp got into management, his early life, how he always had a sharp mind and eye for everything football.

Particular liked the bit about Wolfgang Frank his manager at Mainz who had influenced his football a lot.

I’m listening to The Nursing Home Murder by Ngaio Marsh. I’m switching back and forth between mysteries and sci-fi at the moment.

Chirp was having a sale so I thought I would give this one a try. A lot of reviews comparing Marsh to Agatha Christie so I thought it was worth trying. Seems pretty good so far and I have no clue yet who the murderer might be.

I just finished Genesis by Robin Cook. Like all his books, this one is also a Medico-Thriller. This book published in 2019, is based on Genetic Profiling based in DNA sampling and recreating the family tree.

I was an avid fan of Robin Cook in my teens and read almost everything written by him, this book however did not recreate that excitement. It is a well written book working on an important promise but I never connected to the protagonist and the antagonist. Other may like it though based on its premise and Robin Cook charisma.

George Guidall, like always, does a fantastic job with the narration.

Don't know where I got the book from. It was in my library for years. These days it is extremely hard to find the books with were originally published on CDs and are now only available on Audiobookbay. THough the torrents are not very well seeded. i would suggest anyone wanting to read Robin Cook should get their hands on these asap.

The nature of drugs by Alexander Shulgin - Basically a lecture about everything surrounding a extremely stretched thin definition of drugs. His knowledge first approach is such a breath of fresh air compared to all the politicized polarized mess we have nowadays.
