I think that the shutdown and private locking of the major subreddits won't stand. Reddit is still in power of doing whatever they like with their site so I expect them to simply takeover the subreddits and reopen up places like r/video. Maybe they will setup bot to keep the subreddits populated of posts and automatically moderated. It will be a bot town with no heart with zombie redditors survivors.

I really don’t think it’s sustainable for them to use bots for moderation. They may take up moderation of the big subs, but without the large (free) effort of moderators, quality will drop, and drop…

You're probably right. Since the strategy of exploiting moderators to have Reddit as they aim (without paying for it) has failed.
