Short and sweet video on how to approach Magic Items a little differently (mainly aimed at DMs, but I found it interesting still).

I tried that a few years back, counting crits and when she got her 20th crit in a halberd it became magical. Worked well but overall the sense of wonder & discovery & bonding with found objects have worked so much better, i.e. the normal rules.

As far as I understand it for actual enchantments, he mentions some greater power bestowing it upon them as a sort of reward. Could also be telegraphed, you know? Like going somewhere specifically tied to your background and then recieving a blessing or having revealed that your family sword you carry is powerful.

I mean it's a mix and match thing with all these advice videos. Some of the ideas in the video could be used for anything. Like having enemies come for artifacts the group carries specifically. I think that's fun idea no matter where the stuff comes from.

You're right, and, these kinds of videos are fun to watch and to think about.

I didn't mean to come across as as dismissive & negative as I did.

It's all good, I didn't take it that way neither. I just like the guy and share his stuff. If everyone did, I'd assume he'd have far more subscribers.
