For me it would the ability to absorb an enemy thanks to new "Metroid power" acquired in Dread. Maybe after you parry an enemy or after locking it with the grapple beam. It would expand on the melee combat and be awesome.

For the Prime games, Id like to see more mobility options to close the gap with the 2D counterparts, specially with Dread having brought a lot of new fans. While I understand OG Prime fans being fond of the pace of the earlier games, I do hope some of the advances made in the FPS market in the last decade (or those from Dread for that matter) will trickle to MP4: free flow wallrunning and grappling hook (not scripted or restricted to designated spots), decoupling the dash mechanic from the lock-on and give it a dedicated button, and universal ledge climbing to name some.

Your description sounds a lot like Doom Eternal and Titanfall movement, which would be pretty fun. Might be jarring to move between moving like that and the slower paced puzzle solving and scanning though. I'd definitely be interested in trying it.

I feel like Other M was an attempt to close the gap between the more mobile 2D games and the slower 3D Prime games. Obviously it had some big mistakes with it's execution, but it's interesting to look at what worked and didn't work in context of what it was trying to do.

Yeah, Titanfall and DOOM Eternal are the games I was thinking of.
Had the well not been poisoned, Other M coulve become a third pillar of sorts, as it provides a middle ground between the 2D and FPA styles.

That could be an interesting addition. Most of the Castlevania games have some sort of steal powers from enemies, and with the Metroid power it could make sense for Samus to have a similar power/mechanic.

It could work as an expansion of the whole omega cannon dynamic we got on Dread, where Samus could absorb some enemies’ powers for a temporary skill or weapon. Like, say you have an enemy with a super jump, Samus could absorb that super jump for a limited time, or you have an enemy with a strong shield, Samus could get some degree of temporary invulnerability.

I think that would be very much in line with the franchise, and could make for very creative puzzles or even sequence breaking potential.
