I believe your optimism comes from wrong data. I can't replicate the tomhardware graph as I can put up to 9 it/s on my 6900xt. I had the same result using a 3060 mobile GPU.
AMD GPU are super slow on torch, sadly.

While i didn't benchmark previously, I remember quite vividly the speeds were much slower 7-8 months ago.
If I force double precision, the performance on my side is the same as day one, sadly.
