I guess this is why they never released Second Evolution R back when they did First Departure R. They had this in the works.

Are the first departure R and the second Story R connected in some way? I already bought the first departure, so i will play it first anyways, but just want to know it.

Second Story is the sequel to First Departure, taking place like 19 or 20 years after.

Do you need to play First Departure before?

[–] Palteos 2 points 1 year ago

No, you can play them in any order. If you pick Claude as your MC in the second game the opening cinematic kinda spoils what happens in the first game but other than that there's nothing major really overlapping in the two games story-wise.

And this time we're getting an actual physical release. Let's hope they remake the sequel Blue Sphere next.

There's a physical release? I didn't saw it, will definitely buy it physically then, what a good news

Alright everyone. I really liked the art style of this trailer but I've never played a star ocean game. As someone who has played Xenoblade Chronicles x, and 2, the newer monster hunter, Zelda totk, plenty of classic Final Fantasy (1 through 9), is Star Ocean going to be a series I enjoy and where should I start in the series? Or should I start fresh with this release?

I think you'd like it. I will say that the series has a lot of just okay entries, but Star Ocean 2 is generally known as the best of the series. You don't have to start on any particular game, you can play this entry on its own.

You should like it yes!

I started with 2 way back when it first came out. Like with Final Fantasy you don't have to play in any order.

Really excited for this one. It was one of those games I rented a lot as a kid but never beat or owned.

I got a physical copy of the PS1 version a couple months back, but I think I'll wait for the remaster to dig in.

I am very excited for this. This game and Dragon Quest Monsters are the two I am most excited for.
