Black bears rarely actually hunt, this bear likely saw that man and bit him probatively thinking he was a dead body it could scavenge off of.

I will never visit a park, much less camp overnight, where bears roam.

Seems a bit dramatic. A combination of bear spray and safety procedure are all you need to reliably avoid them.

I’ve safely camped in bear country countless times personally.

You're braver than I am.

To me, it's not worth the risk, and this article proves it.

It's like owning a pitbull. Can they be lovely pets? Sure. Is it worth the risk of it going berserk with no apparent trigger, as it has happened in the past? Nope.
