Metroidvania is a subgenre of video games focused on guided non-linearity and utility-gated exploration. The term, popularized by video game critic Jeremy Parish, is a portmanteau of Metroid and Castlevania.

I've played a lot of the usual suspects: Super Metroid, SotN, GBA Castlevanias and Metroids, etc. Just played Hollow Knight and loved it. I'm less familiar with MV's that would've come out on the Vita or PSP. Any suggestions??

Timespinner but skip the dialogue. It's so good otherwise!

Right on, I'll check it out. Thanks!

Also not technically a vita exclusive anymore but it doesn't feel right playing it anywhere else imo so I think it'll feel right at home on your new vita.

I played through it. Pretty dang good. I did end up skipping a lot of the dialogue, especially the fetch quest stuff. I'll probably go back to my save and do some of the alternate endings soon.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I end up going back every now and then and doing just that.

Is Monster boy and Cursed Kingdom on PS Vita? I've played it recently on PC and it's a great metroidvania.

It appears not, unfortunately, because that game was on my radar already. I may just have to play it on PC.

I have loaded the old pc-engine and Sega Monster World games onto the Vita. Have you played any of those?

No, I didn't unfortunately. From the older days I played emulated only Super Metroid.
