If you experiment with different things often you may quickly regret using linux for audio. Hardly any newer equipment is supported. Lots of equipment runs on linux yet has no linux support, lots of dante interfaces are in that group. Audio companies seem to hire up all of the opensource audio project contributers and lock them down with contracts.
You can use jack / pulse audio to send whatever you have going from a linux machine to windows / mac. But if you have a decent interface it's probably simpler to just patch it in.
