Come discuss pro wrestling! Any company or era is welcome.

Rules: (Click to expand)

1. Be Civil.

Users are expected to be civil and inclusive towards one another at all times. Remember the person on the other side of the screen. Hate speech, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and other inflammatory language is prohibited.

2. Keep content related to wrestling.

Any content posted should at least be related to pro wrestling somehow.

3. Spoilers.

Do not spoil events for people. If an event is going on, please keep discussion contained to the/a discussion thread for 24h after the event. Do not post spoilers in titles during this period. Use the spoiler function when you need to, it's there for a reason. Should your post involve a url to a spoiler (Twitter, YouTube video, etc) please mark the thread as NSFW as well so thumbnails are blurred.

4. Vague/Editorialized Title.

Please keep the titles of any articles you post clear, understandable, and indicative of what the article states within. It's ok to alter the title if the original is clickbait and confusing, or contains a spoiler like a debut that just occurred that day, but do not add your own thoughts to it.

5. Sexualized Content/'Plot'.

Please do not post any pornographic, 'creep shot', or similar adult-related material to the community (regardless of connection to wrestling). Wrestling content that involves sexualized content (in storylines/matches/promos) is fine, as well as photo's wrestlers post to their own social medias. Butt-shots you take with your cell phone at a house show aren't.

6. Banned Source(s).

Due not necessarily to the content of their reporting, but to their harassing and doxxing of users, the following news sources, journalists, and content creators are not permitted to be posted on SquaredCircle in any context - including direct links, articles, social media, and reports that cite only those sources:

  • WrestleVotes
  • RingSideNews
  • Brad Shepard

i don't know whether or not to make this it's whole thread or not but it's got be thinking; with all the talk about rights deals expiring for nxt, smackdown, and raw on various streaming services can we talk about how bad it is that one company owns close to the entirety of pro wrestling history, at least in america.

not even about the current shows but the whole wealth of history from nwa and the territories now at the whim of media companies and wwe who will pull it for cost reasons but also issue takedown notices for those who put clips up on youtube. it's sad how much we have lost from this when digitisation should have been great for wrestling nostalgia.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

Same thing applies to the whole entertainment industry. I was hoping the one up side in Disney and WD gobbling up other studios was going to be throwing everything they own on their respective streaming service. Instead they pull stuff to save a couple bucks on residuals and up their prices to butter up shareholders and make their CEOs feel like they have big peepees. I can't wait until my kids are old enough to be trusted to pirate stuff without nuking the computer.

It could have been a whole thread, because I'm concerned once the Peacock deal ends, that the network idea is dead, that even more of the history is locked in some server in the WWE warehouse never to see the glow of a screen again.

This is why things like XWT are needed. If I had known one day I'd want those tapes back I'd never have gotten rid of them. We all may have to go back to tape trading, USB trading? some kind of trading if they put it all back in the vault.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

We all set up Plex servers with whatever content we each have and share and make our own network lmao

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Tell me about it ().

Worst is we're also now well past the point where it'll ever change for the better. At best we coulda maybe had Shane buy out Vince (and/or kill him lmao), take the company private and choose to do something altruistic with all their footage but now in a post-Vince WWE that shits going nowhere until the day TKO folds which is in our dreams.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

the best thing you can do is utilize yt-dlp and archive your own when you can find it on youtube but even then. they don't have everything. :/

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

yt-dlp

*reads comment while ripping 32 videos off the NHK website with yt-dlp* yup! lmao

@GeekFTW little story time..

last year wXw had an unification match with the womens champion and an mens championship....

wXw has officialy no womens championship in the year 2024 ! 😱

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm guessing their belt is just open division then since the unification? Men and women can compete for it?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

@GeekFTW yes...i mean...why would an promotioon do that in 2023 / 24 ? thats crazy to me

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 days ago (2 children)

can you believe that jim cornette and eric bischoff were 100% wrong about aew's tv deal?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago

We're back with a special and riveting 83 Weeks... why WBD is wrong and this AEW deal is super bad for wrestling... with special guest commentator to talk about how shitty the IWC and AEW have always been... Jim Cornette... special shout out to sponsor Blue Chew! The official sponsor of Jericho Cruises and 83 Weeks!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I can taste the sarcasm lmao

So, I'm Tony Khan and now Geek is Mortos. Totally plausible.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

I've never seen the two together!

[–] Cadeillac 5 points 1 week ago (3 children)

So we are watching old WW(F)E, and they have this generic ass masked wrestler named The Patriot. He's in a feud with Bret Hart. I was quite surprised when I heard his music. Turns out, Kurt Angle's music is reused

[–] Lost_My_Mind 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Brock Lesnars music is reused too. It was originally the XFL Chicago Enforcers music they used when the whole team would take to the field in home games.

[–] Cadeillac 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This is amazing lmao. I love some good trivia

[–] Lost_My_Mind 6 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Jerry Lawler is reused too. Originally it was Harley Race.

Oooh oooh, and CM Punk used to come out to "This Fire Burns", but before that it was used one time, for one night, by Randy Orton. Orton didn't feel it was a good fit though.

Orton was sick of his generic sounding song that just kept saying "HEY!". Guess he was hearing those voices in his head.....

And that's how CM Punk got his first wwe theme.

HBK is known for his theme "sexy boy", but it's actually the second version of that song. The first version had Sherri Martell singing a shortened, but mostly the same version of the same lyrics.

I'll probably post more of these as I remember them. I know hulk hogans real american is reused, but I can't remember who originally had it.

[–] Cadeillac 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Hell yeah, keep 'em coming! I don't have as easy access to YouTube as I once did, so I haven't been getting my info dumps like I like to turn on

I didn't realize Randy had that song first. That's funny. I knew Sherri had done a version of Sexy Boy, but was hazy on the details. Lawler's is new to me, but I can't even think of his music right now

[–] Lost_My_Mind 5 points 1 week ago

Lawlers doesn't have lyrics, so it's hard to describe.

It's like HUUUUUUU HUUUUUUUUUU HUUUU HU HUUU HUUUUUUUUUUU HUUUU HUUUU HUUUUU HUUU HU HU HU HU

If that were a trumpet, and sounding royal.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

Orton was sick of his generic sounding song that just kept saying "HEY!". Guess he was hearing those voices in his head.....

Burn in My Light wasn't so bad. I think overall I preferred it to Voices. But WWE's version did have a several heys in it. The actual song has I want to say 5 total, but WWE's edit had about 7 in the first minute and a half.

Orton didn't feel it was a good fit though.

My understanding was that the company didn't like it for him.

It should also be noted he doesn't like Voices either.

Wait until you get to CHOPPY CHOPPY YO PEEPEE!!!

And then the next week, with John Bobbitt.

Then you'll look up who John Bobbitt was.......and hooboy. It certainly is a thing that happened.....

[–] Cadeillac 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I know of the actual story. They did a storyline of that?

[–] Lost_My_Mind 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Omg.....I don't know how you've never heard of it, and I don't even want to spoil it. This is like the time I got to show my friend Hogzn vs HBK at summerslam, with them going in blind.

[–] Cadeillac 4 points 1 week ago

It almost sounds vaguely familiar, but no, I don't recall it. I was able to show my partner the Shawn Michael's and Hogan fight. So great to be able to show that to someone new

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Good ol Del Wilkes. He was around a bunch of places back then before WWF, went to Japan after and back to WWF for a bit again. Just died a few years ago iirc.

[–] Cadeillac 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh, I had never heard of him when I looked to see who was under the mask. I don't care for this character

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

Yeah its kind of one dimensional in fairness.

i was bored so i asked copilot to make a wrestling angle. i don't hate them.

Absolutely! Here’s a fun and engaging wrestling angle featuring Andy Kaufman and Lulu Pencil in AEW 2024:

Title: “The Comedy Clash”

Setting: AEW Dynamite, November 2024

Segment 1: Kaufman’s Return The show kicks off with a surprise appearance by Andy Kaufman. He enters the ring, boasting about his legendary status and how he revolutionized wrestling with his comedic antics. Kaufman claims that no one in AEW can match his wit and charisma.

Segment 2: Lulu Pencil’s Challenge As Kaufman continues to brag, Lulu Pencil’s music hits. She walks out to the ring with her signature pencil and notepad, looking determined. Lulu grabs a mic and tells Kaufman that while he may be a legend, he hasn’t faced anyone like her. She challenges Kaufman to a match, promising to show him the true spirit of wrestling.

Segment 3: The Setup Tony Khan appears on the screen and announces that Kaufman and Lulu Pencil will face off in a special “Comedy Wrestling Match” at the next AEW pay-per-view, Full Gear. The match will have unique rules, allowing both competitors to use their comedic skills to outwit each other.

Main Event: Full Gear - Comedy Wrestling Match The match is filled with hilarious moments and clever spots. Kaufman tries to use his old tricks, but Lulu Pencil counters with her own brand of humor and resilience. The crowd is thoroughly entertained as the two engage in a battle of wits and wrestling.

Climax: The Surprise Just as Kaufman thinks he has the upper hand, Lulu pulls out a giant pencil from under the ring and uses it to trip Kaufman. She then rolls him up for a quick pin, securing the victory. The crowd erupts in cheers as Lulu Pencil celebrates her win.

Aftermath: The Respect After the match, Kaufman, initially furious, eventually smiles and extends his hand to Lulu. He acknowledges her talent and declares that she has earned his respect. The two shake hands, and Kaufman raises Lulu’s hand in victory, marking the beginning of an unlikely alliance.

I am the crowd and I am thoroughly entertained

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Replace Kaufman with Johnny Knoxville and you've got something completely possible.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

the first attempt was auron, sephiroth, kuja, and kenny omega so i feel like nothing could ever top it :(

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

'Kuja' enters Trance mode and attacks 'Auron', Kenny Omega V-Triggers 'Kuja', 'Sephiroth' summons meteor, arena destroyed, match declared 'No Contest'.
