Listen lads, lasses and lassless, I got a long day ahead of me, having to upgrade pict-rs, postgres and lemmy, so there might be some intermittent downtimes. You know how it is around here...not professionally at all.

Just a heads up.

not professionally at all

Having an announcement in the first place is more professional than what you get from many companies.

Thanks for your work!

Quick update, db0 is having some issues with the upgrade due to problems with pict-rs. If images are a bit borked for you right now, that's why.

FYI the main frontend is experiencing some problems during the update, but the other frontends work:

Update: Main frontend is back up and running. pict-rs is still borked currently.

Everything should be back up and running now. Let us know if you notice any other bugs.

Bug report:

  1. Cross posting currently broken for default frontend ui.
  2. Embedded media with mime type .m3u8 is triggering a file download prompt on desktop instead of displaying embedded video. Confirmed this is happening on Edge, Firefox & Chrome on Windows desktop, but not on Android.

Do cross posts work on alternative front ends? They don't on default Lemmy ui

Your instance has them and I asked you yesterday to check that. Lol

Thanks for all you do administering this instance! This post reminded me that I was going to start donating if I wound up sticking around on this instance, and while I did I never actually got around to the donation part.

Just slammed a monthly kofi donation. Thanks again.

Thanks for the heads-up, it seems to currently be down and I am glad to know why.

thanks for the heads up!

Post hiding is finally a thing? Thank God, that's one of the features I've missed from Reddit the most.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

What's the use case for post hiding?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)
  1. threads that absolutely don't interest me. this way, my feed becomes a list of new posts, or posts i'm (noncommittally) following for comments.
  2. threads that make me upset. extension of above: not having to see or be reminded of things i'm actively dis-interested in. this is more for when i'm surfing All for new communities.

the main three solutions i have to #2 are: RSS; userscript; or blocking the OP. i already use RSS a lot, but RSS clients can be arcane to customise the way i want, and i don't like following aggregators from my aggregator. i'm satisfied with the official web UI.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

Oooooh! I misunderstood the feature then. I thought only the posters can use that feature to hide their post from other people for whatever reason.
