I spent a lot more hours (primarily on RocketLeague) with my Dualshocks and they're still going strong. After upgrading to PS5, I've been using both of my DualSense controllers. But they've both had issues with the left joystick. One of them had its silicone pad completely torn off - though I can still play with it. The other one's mechanics are all messed up. The camera just goes wild whenever I move the joystick.

Is it just my bad luck?

Something definitely happened to analog stick manufacturers between the last generation and the current one. That said, I bought a dualsense edge partly because it has replaceable analog sticks (but also because I wanted a controller for my steam deck/HTPC) that have paddles, gyro, and a touchpad, and this is really the only thing out there other than the SCUF controllers but those have lots of reported quality issues as well
