Which one do people prefer? I've personally found the chess.com UI to be a lot warmer and more inviting than lichess, but I'm interested to hear people's opinions

If I could afford the subscription I'd choose chesscom as they seem to have more lower rated players like me. But for now I prefer lichess because I can go into game analysis immediately after a game with a single click.

The average skill (not rating) of players is much lower on Chess.com because it's the first platform people see. Lichess has more "power" users but that does not mean it doesn't have lower-rated players. The purpose of a rating system (and it does its job well) is to match you with players of similar skill.
