Every time I try to change my avatar on vlemmy I get this error:

SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data

Is this issue known, is it widespread, and is there a workaround to get the avatar working?

It's rare, but reoccurring issue. I would try to wait a bit and try again.
