I was wondering how the wider RPG community found games nowadays. Do you reach out to your non-RPG friends? Go to your FLGS? Use online RPG groups? Something else?

I recently moved to a new city that had a very small ttrpg presence. So here is my advice:

  • Check local Facebook groups. Yes, I know, Facebook is terrible. I agree there. However, I still think it is a great resource. Try finding a D&D groups that specifically is for your state. If you are lucky your county or city might have one too. If there is a FLGS, try posting on their page if they have one.

  • Check if there are any discord groups for your state or area. This is probably the easiest way to find players in my opinion. I have had less flake outs from discord but your milage may vary.

  • Lastly, try your local library. Some libraries will have groups already going and even rulebooks you can borrow. If they don't already have a group ask the librarian if there is anyway you could start an open group.
