For me, I think having a topic in mind is the best thing to do. Your therapist isn't a mind reader ๐.
Be willing to open up when you feel comfortable. Avoid one word responses if you can. Allow yourself to be introspective. Stopping to think about your responses is also a great idea.
From a therapist's viewpoint, yes, absolutely, please come with a topic in mind!
