The half of the show with Lee Pace that was completely divorced from the books was legitimately great. The actual foundation stuff, bleugh. I couldn't say if I hated that half because I'm a fan of the books or if it was genuinely bad though

It was genuinely, meh. Like you said, Brother Day has great stuff, but on the opposite end is Salvor, who has a terrible storyline. The rest is meh.
