As Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) launches his rebellion against House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), multiple reports indicate that House Republicans are looking to get rid of the Florida congressman altogether.

According to a report from CNN, an unnamed House Republican said that the caucus wants Gaetz gone — and that they may use the findings from the ongoing Ethics Committee investigation into the Florida congressman to oust him.

I’ll believe that when I see it. The GOP never hold their own accountable, no matter how awful or obvious the crime.

The absolute furthest they will go, and only when given no other choice, is “we investigated ourselves and decided there was no wrongdoing.”

This isn't about accountability though, it's about punishing one of their own who stepped out of line

They do, but only when their own start to make trouble for the party elites. Like Madison Cawthorn and his accusations of Washington orgies and cocaine use. He wasn't held accountable for anything when he was their agent of chaos, but once the chaos started hurting them, they were all in on holding him accountable.

I wonder if this is the actual top reason they like so many criminals and deviants - so they have dirt on people who don’t fall in line.

You can’t (reliably) oust a politician who turns on you if you don’t have any dirt on them…

Eh, if they really want to they can. See Madison Cawthorne. I'm sure there's some dirt about Gaetz floating around beyond the human trafficking and gay sex asphyxiation stuff.

They might if it's not really about the crime. They may turn on him simply because they think he's becoming a liability.
