I don't really understand why someone would want to emigrate from Cuba to Russia in the first place, and certainly not die in a war for the privilege.

People are leaving Cuba for Haiti (not many, but some), others for Surinam, Nicaragua and Guyana. The only point is to get out, it almost doesn't matter the destination
