All good points, but speaking as someone who watched reddit change over the years, it's also not something you can change by being stubborn and insular. If newcomers are suggesting changes, it's only because they want to contribute to the place, and that spirit should be encouraged. There's nothing malicious in it, so it shouldn't be greeted with defensiveness.
