It sounds good in theory, but Ive lived in more than a few share house situations... Its absolutely possible to have a "democratic" group of 5 people that are on the verge of killing each other at all times too.

Yep, and that gets worse the larger to group gets. I work for a company that has 5000 employees. I can't imagine how something like the article describes would work at that scale.
