They prefer "Uruk", or so I hear.

That's only Saruman's folk. Most others consider the term "Orc" or "Ork" to be correct.

Saruman's folk are Uruk-hai.

Those come some 1000 years after the first orcs called Uruks in Middle-Earth. https://lotr.fandom.com/wiki/Uruks_of_Mordor
