Is there any support that some parts of the universe just are, just exist, and from there the Big Bang happened (and so on)? Similarly, I read theories that the universe may be flat, spherical, or saddle shaped - with each having their own properties when it comes to being finite/infinite etc. I don’t understand how the universe could have a shape at all.

5+ mile backup minimum of stop and go traffic leading up to the west bound Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

There is:

  • 10+ miles of 3 lane highway (55mph) before the bridge
  • 3 lanes on the bridge
  • and 3 lanes for 20+ miles after crossing the bridge.
  • no toll booths
  • no signals or speed reductions

after sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for 30min - hour, you finally get to the base of the bridge and then the traffic just magically dissipates and everyone accelerates to the normal 55mph speed.

HOW & WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?

How do satellites, or even planets and moons maintain orbit? Wouldn't the gravity pull the orbiting object in? Eventually causing a collision?

I was just watching a short reel about how one ethnicity or nationality doesn't eat meat on Christmas eve, but continued to say they eat fish instead.. I know there are other things out there, but I can't think of them right now. Thanks!

Curious of the science behind stretching on a scientific level. What exactly is happening to our body when we do it? How does our body recognize stretching in a manner to increase mobility vs “overdoing it” and potentially tightening or immobilizing part of our body (to an extent)?

Google searches have just led me to a plethora of links talking about how many benefits there are etc etc but not really science behind it. Like IS it really beneficial? How long would it take to to actually have some legitimate mobility/flexibility increases?

Surely given how big 52! Is it wouldn’t really matter anyway even if I just did a brief shuffle

Are you born with a specific amount of melanin and when you tan it just “toasts”? Or does the melanin in your body actually increase?

What is actually the simplest answer why hydrogen is not feasible yet for a replacement of our usual ways to heat buildings or drive cars. I heard that Hydrogen makes sense for larger vehicles that have to drive for a lot of miles but smaller ones are not really in development outside of toyota's experiments. Is there already a way to when it could get feasible?
