Can't find certain communities and users in search (kbin.social)

I'm trying to search for [email protected] and [email protected] so that I can follow them, but neither comes up when I use the searchbar. For the community, I know kbin.social is federated with pawb.social because other communities from there do come up in search. I've tried searching for both using name@domain, @name@domain, and full URLs. Nothing. What's going on?

[email protected] comes up for me in search on kbin.social now.

@RainbowsAre they protected by any kind of bot protections? If so that could interfere.

I'm not sure what that would entail. How would I check for that?
