from why i’ve seen, once you verbalize this you will get him in your next 5 dungeons or so lol
Been playing since the poor man's launch and I'd never seen him til yesterday. Saw him 3 times yesterday and once today. I'm wondering if they boosted the spawn rate, it increases with level (I'm 72) or I just have weird luck.
As a lvl 50 necro I just run when I see him. He ignores all my minions and just beelines it straight to me. I could maybe take him now if I was using a golem but I sacrificed my golem for my current build.
Butcher wants fresh meat, why would he go after your bony af skeltals??? Of course he went straight for you!
It's a little cheesy, and ruins the fun of a Butcher attack; but you if run very tight circles around him, he can't hit you.
This is the only way I've beaten him on necro. Why does he ignore minions? He even ignored my golem. I just did laps around him while my skeletons took swipes at him until he died.
Might try that next time so I can say I killed him at least once.
TIL this is a thing, it has not happened to me at all.
Happened to me twice now, but was a cynic like you until I became a pants shitter.
If it's anything like what happens to me you'll try to escape only to get murdered mercilessly. I just accept my fate and get it over with now.
After I learned he existed he started popping up for me in like every 5th dungeon 😂
lol, that's the Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon, you go around town doing your errands and someone mentions that there's a bear loose and you're like "I haven't seen a thing" and then the next day the bear is following you around.
Reminds me of old school Diablo in that he just appears randomly in dungeons out of the blue. He's relentless and hard to kill.

Dang! Running T3 LVL 55 and I nearly got him last time... He sure moves fast for a big fella
I'm at the same level. He was going so fast that my skellys couldn't even get a swipe in. I was running away, they were chasing. It was an impossible situation
That SOB jumped me out of nowhere today while I was already dragging around half a dungeon on my necro chasing a loot goblin. Needless to say, the loot goblin lived, and I did not.

I think I've seen him once, around level 15-20. He killed me pretty quickly and I haven't seen him since.
I actually would have forgotten he existed if it wasn't for people pointing out he's a thing on social media.
I met him 3 times during one day. Honestly the first time I didn't even notice as I was chasing a treasuregoblin, when I got dropped to low health that's when I noticed the healthbar.
In one day?! Damn, dude was farming you for treasure hahaha.
Haha indeed! I saw him a total of 4 times in one session yesterday. Never saw him before that. I find that weird
I only ever managed to kill him thanks to getting conduit shrine just before encountering him. Got him to like 20% health and then barely survived the rest.
So damn right I'm still afraid of him.
I just get mad! He is a total dick and often kills me then runs away :(
Still haven't seen him yet... I'm scared.

Yes, he still scares me. I've killed him a number of times on WT2 and WT3. Then I got to WT4 at level 65 and he's practically unkillable again. I chased a treasure goblin straight into him, so now I've taken to calling the goblins "Lazarus"... as in "The bastard led us into a trap! Now everyone is dead, killed by a demon he called the Butcher."
I love the butcher mechanic. Definitely been splattered a few times by him, but it's a very fun feeling hearing him in later levels.
Yeah, I've seen him twice. Once at low level where he killed me. Then recently in my first nightmare dungeon (because of course) and I got him that time :)
I havent played Diablo 4 yet but Ive been playing Diablo 1 lately and the Butcher is still as terrifying there as I remember haha
Lol, I still remember that day. We were all playing D1 in a students dorm, doors open and suddenly there is this scream from another room. Fun times.
I have only beat him once of the four times I've seen him since release. Was on a sorc, and was doing laps around a pillar while my hydra wore him down. Felt like a 15 minute fight. And I feel like there were 11 potions used. All in the name of trying to stay away from him.
Kiting the Butcher is definitely a thing.
@Crackhappy Not run into him in 4 yet. I recall in one of the olders him freaking me out till my friends and I got our characters a bit higher than when we first saw him.
Absolutely, I was getting wrecked by him in WT3 until I started getting my build together. I was able to beat him 3 ish time before I got to WT4.. and now he is unkillable again ☠️
I just killed him in WT3 with no problem at all, I think that means I should move up to 4 now.
Finally beat him at level 51 barbarian without cheesing it. Last time he got stuck behind a wall when I was running sorcerer and just slowly killed him lol.
the bastard appeared once and one shotted me. I am waiting for him to come back for a rematch
oh yes I just feel like Id rather just die then bother with him lol which he ends up killing me anyway.
I was a squishy level 54 sorcerer at one point and he came outta nowhere and started hunting me down like Hellboy on crack coccaine. He scared the shit out of me and I died after having whittled down his health bar to the last quarter.
I beat him once with a friend and another time when he spawned conveniently right next to a Conduit totem. If I see him again, I think I can impale him with my ice shard build, but we'll see :)
With my bleeds now, I absolutely cream him at any difficulty. But man, for a while it was terrifying.
I love that he spawns randomly lol... "The Butcher" has lived rent free in my head as something to be terrified of since the OG Diablo, and it's a nice nod to have him terrorizing people now.
He apparently even has special spawns. A friend of mine claims he was investigating an elite marker on the map, only to find there was nothing there. When he turned around to walk away The Butcher he claims, burst through the wall Kool-Aid Man style.
