I have a friend who would like to hide their existing lemmy posts for a certain period of time and make them available at a later date. Can anyone advise if this is possible or if a moderator can do that?

That isn't a feature that is currently offered. I would suggest your friend hit up the Lemmy devs github as a wanted feature.
