📰 Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk, ‘Thunderbolts’ and ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ First Looks Debut in Marvel 85th Anniversary Video

Several upcoming Marvel Studios film and TV shows, including “Thunderbolts*,” “Daredevil: Born Again” and “Ironheart,” all got first looks in a special 85th anniversary video released by Marvel on Thursday.

The video zooms through 85 years of Marvel history. It includes everything from the colorful pages of creator Stan Lee’s original comic books to “Iron Man,” the movie that kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe, to everything in between — even this summer’s blockbuster “Deadpool & Wolverine” made it in.

Near the end of the video, fans get an official first look at Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk from next year’s “Captain America: Brave New World,” the return of Charlie Cox’s blind vigilante in “Daredevil: Born Again,” Dominque Thorne’s high-tech Riri Williams in “Ironheart” and the super-powered, villainous cast of “Thunderbolts*,” including Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier and Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova.

Next up for Marvel is “Agatha All Along,” the Kathryn Hahn-starring spinoff from the hit series “WandaVision,” which releases on Disney+ on Sept. 18. After that is “Captain America: Brave New World” in theaters on Feb. 14, 2025, followed by “Thunderbolts*” on May 2, 2025. “Daredevil: Born Again” is coming to Disney+ in March 2025, and “Ironheart” will also come to the streamer next year.

In addition to Stan, the “Thunderbolts*” crew includes “Black Widow” cast members Pugh, Harbour and Olga Kurylenko — who play Yelena Belova, Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian and Taskmaster. Joining them are Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost from “Ant-Man and the Wasp”), Russell (John Walker from “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”) and Louis-Dreyfus, as mastermind Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. “Top Gun: Maverick” star Lewis Pullman plays the powerful superhero Sentry.

📰 THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS Set Video Reveals First Look At The Thing... And He's Entirely Practical!

A new photo from the set of The Fantastic Four: First Steps has found its way online and features a first look at Ebon Moss-Bachrach's Thing...with the biggest surprise being that he's practical, not VFX!

In 2005's Fantastic Four and its sequel, 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, actor Michael Chiklis donned a practical costume to bring The Thing to life on screen.

It worked for the time, but in Josh Trank's 2015 reboot, Jamie Bell's take on the character was realised with visual effects (outside of the so-so design, he looked great). Now, we have a first look at The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Ever-Lovin' Blue-Eyed Thing!

Shockingly, he too appears to be practical; as of now, we don't know whether there's an actor - presumably Ebon Moss-Bachrach - in the suit or whether this is simply a stand-in meant to serve as a reference for actors and visual effects artists. Based on the few seconds of footage we have, it does look like someone's in there.

This being a stand-in perhaps makes the most sense, though a practical Thing (whose face, for example, is enhanced with VFX) could suit the Marvel Studios reboot's 1960s aesthetic.

Still, it's worth remembering what Moss-Bachrach said earlier this year. "In the past, I think they’ve done a suit. Michael Chiklis wore a suit that apparently was really uncomfortable, and it’s kind of...we’re past that," the actor explained while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live. "It’s a little kind of cosplay, kind of amateur that kind of stuff now with the technology we have."

Asked about his preparation, the Andor star added, "I'm playing Ben Grimm, who becomes The Thing – who is a man encased in rock. [laughs] I've just been looking at rocks. What am I doing? I don't know, I've been reading a lot of comics. It's kinda nice. They gave me this kind of Marvel Unlimited thing so I can just go on my iPad and to any comic book that Marvel's ever released. That feels kinda cool."

📰 Jessica Alba Has Advice for Vanessa Kirby's ‘Fantastic Four’ Role

While promoting her new Roku series, Alba admits working on and promoting Fantastic Four was a whirlwind when the film first released in 2005. “I think just have fun. The fans are so amazing,” she gushed. Alba further reflected on the fandom she was exposed to during her time while working on the franchise. She says it will be just as magical for Kirby. “It was probably one of the best times of my life, going around the world and meeting all of the people that just love The Fantastic Four and love these comic books and can relate to these stories. That, to me, and to be able to meet so many different people that you can touch and bring joy to them, I would say that's first and foremost for anyone who gets the honor of playing one of these awesome characters. So I’d tell her to just have fun and soak in the moments.”

With the movie more than 20 years old, Alba nailed it as Sue Storm in Fantastic Four. Blending brains, brawn, and heart to make her both a fierce superhero and the glue that held the team together, Alba's take on the iconic comic book hero is unforgettable and one that fans will certainly think about for years to come. As her take made Sue Storm way more than just the Invisible Woman, Kirby is stepping in to fill those iconic shoes is another step for female superheroes leading the charge. From some serious chops and roles like The Crown, Mission: Impossible and The Son, Kirby's got some serious chops to do it. With her talent and edge, Kirby will bring a fresh vibe to Sue Storm while honoring the character Alba made so iconic.

📰 ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ to Top Box Office Yet Again Over Desolate Labor Day Weekend

Due to the sheer lack of compelling options, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is expected to top the box office in its sixth weekend of release.

Several movies will open nationwide — the Dennis Quaid-led biopic “Reagan” and Sony and Blumhouse’s AI horror fable “Afraid” among them — but none are projected to make a dent on box office charts over the Labor Day holiday weekend. Those newcomers are aiming for low-single digits and will be lucky to crack the top five, which looks to be populated with holdovers such as “Alien: Romulus” and romantic drama “It Ends With Us.”

In what’s shaping up to be one of the slowest weekends of the year, Disney’s Marvel sequel “Deadpool & Wolverine” looks to rule with $12 million to $13 million over the extended holiday frame. The R-rated film, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, has claimed the No. 1 spot for four out of the past five weekends. It’s the second highest-grossing movie of the year with $577 million in North America and $1.21 billion globally.
